Geistfeld 2.1.0 Post-Jam Patch!
Geistfeld » Devlog
Thanks to everyone who has played Geistfeld recently! It's my most successful game yet and I was proud of it, even day one!
Patch Notes:
- The map size has been reduced significantly.
- While there were some benefits to Geistfeld's larger open field, the negatives were numerous. Players got lost too easily, the locations felt too sparse, and there was just a lot of walking. Maybe too much walking.
- The layout itself is completely unchanged.
- The boundary are closer to the points of interest, meaning you will notice interesting things if you follow the fence
- Sprint has been overhauled!
- If you deplete your stamina, you cannot sprint until you recover all energy.
- You will "pant" and breathe heavily while recovering from depleted energy.
- Blessings 'o Energy from the wisps now increase both energy and energy recovery speed, bringing it more in line with the other blessings in terms of power level.
- Stamina recovery is, in general, more consistent.
- Banish has been overhauled!
- When the ghost enters "banishing range" you will hear and sound effect and the ghost will start to flash.
- The banish window is 30% longer now, making it a little more forgiving without being trivial.
- Please give your feedback as to how Banish feels now! This change may seem small, but it radically changes the feel of game.
- Ghost scaling tweaks:
- The ghost now levels MUCH more aggressively and scales to a significantly higher level. The ghost starts at level 1 and increases it's speed and contact radius at a 1.2x rate for each level up until level 20.
- Previously, the ghost levels every 15 seconds plus one second per level. That's max level in just under 6 minutes.
- Now it levels every 10 seconds plus one second per level. That's max level in just under 7 minutes. However, it now hits the previous max level at 4.5 minutes.
- The end result is a much more threatening ghost that is only non-threatening for the first 2-3 minutes. By max-level, it should take a lot of energy to escape the ghost.
- The ghost now levels MUCH more aggressively and scales to a significantly higher level. The ghost starts at level 1 and increases it's speed and contact radius at a 1.2x rate for each level up until level 20.
- Blessing o' Speed nerf:
- Blessing o' Speed was broken and has had it's values reduced by a whopping 33%.
- This still feels super powerful if you get 8-10 of them, but it no longer allows for completely trivializing the ghost.
- SFX levels tweaked!
- All SFX and music levels have been rebalanced slightly. This is pending further changes in 2.1.1 as I am still getting a feel.
- Patch 2.2.0 is expected to have audio buses and volume sliders.
- All SFX and music levels have been rebalanced slightly. This is pending further changes in 2.1.1 as I am still getting a feel.
- Menu button switched from G to M.
- Pause menu overhauled!
- The menu is now organized into tabs! First is a controls tab (controller support is added, but not fully tested!):
- Second is the "Info" tab featuring blessing levels, items found, and notes.
- Third is the map which now dynamically updates as you visit locations! This should add to the feeling of exploration on your first playthroug
- The menu is now organized into tabs! First is a controls tab (controller support is added, but not fully tested!):
Again, Thank You!!!
I couldn't do it without the Game Jam community and my awesome supportive friends. This game was a massive undertaking and I am so proud of it. If there is interest, I would like to develop it into a more full release on Steam with twists and turns and silly nonsense. If that sounds good to you, hit me up and I would love to chat about my ideas and see if that sounds interesting.
Thanks again to everyone who played.
